BRC Certification

BRC

We are proud to announce that Verstegen Spices & Sauces BV is in possession of the 8th version of the BRC certificate.

The world standard for Food Safety has been developed to specify the safety, quality and operational criteria required within a food-producing organization to meet compliance and consumer protection obligations.

Information about the BRC certificate

Originally published by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) for food producers who deliver private-label goods to UK retailers, this standard has been revised at regular intervals to reflect the latest thinking in food safety. Now it has achieved worldwide application as a framework to assist food production in every company.

The structure and content of the standard is designed so that the assessment of a company’s buildings and grounds, operating systems and procedures by a qualified third party – the certification body – against the requirements of the standard is possible.

The Standard does not apply to activities such as wholesale, import, distribution and storage that are outside the direct control of the company. The BRC has developed a series of World Standards that set out the requirements for a wide range of activities in the production, packaging and storage and distribution of food products.

BRC requirements are more extensive than HACCP requirements. BRC contains extensive GMP rules (Good Manufacturing Practice), for example for the environment of the factory, requirements regarding organization and communication
