I love these sauces. The mushroom one is especially versatile, I use it most often to make a dish I call ‘Chicken à la Pretender’, a simple chicken à la king. Great for a quick supper. But the sauce is equally delicious to top steak, or stirred into pasta.

Never heard of Verstegen before and purchased this and other sauces from a local butcher and my god what a find. Had it with steak and chips and before I knew it, I was having steak with my sauce.. My daughter-in-law gave me one of these mine sauces along with some steak and the taste and texture blew me away. After an internet search I ordered 2 packs for my home use. No doubt some will be given away to let other family members try out with their meals. They arrived promptly and securely covered in bubble wrap inside a pasteboard box..
